STÄDTEBAULICHE ASPEKTE
Mit dem CAMPUS BOCKMÜHLE soll auf dem 65.000 m2 großen Gesamtareal der Grundstein für eine neue Stadtteilentwicklung gelegt werden. Grundlage für diesen Entwurf ist die Idee, durch eine Gegenüberstellung von Park und Gebäude eine klare städtebauliche Situation zu schaffen und die bestehenden öffentlichen Grünflächen den Blambeckpark zu erweitern. Es entsteht ein neuer und lebendiger Quartierspark mit attraktiven Naherholungsflächen. Die vorgeschlagenen Neubauten im Quartier reihen sich in die bestehen umliegenden Blockbebauungen ein und fassen mit ihrer Ausrichtung die neue grüne Mitte. Ein neuer Vorplatz, nördlich des Entwicklungsgebietes am Blambeckpark gelegen, gibt dem Projekt innerhalb des Quartiers seine Schlüsselstellung.
ENTWURFSKONZEPT
Der zu entwickelnde CAMPUS BOCKMÜHLE bildet, mit der bestehenden Grundschule auf der Westseite des Areas ein in sich funktionierendes Ensemble als Blockstruktur. Ein bepflanzter zentraler Pausenhof bildet das Herz des Campus. Die Sportanlage wird am südlichen Rand des Parks positioniert, so dass auch der südliche Teil des Viertels belebt wird. Stadtteiltreff, Kinder- & Jugendtreff befinden sich im zentral gelegenen Gebäude und können von Norden als auch von Süden erschlossen werden. Es entsteht eine Nord-Süd-Erschließungsachse. Von allen Seiten werden Bezüge zur Nachbarschaft hergestellt und das gesamte Stadtviertel wird ganzwöchig belebt. Der kompakte Baukörper für die Schüler der SEK I mit nach außen hin ruhiger Grundhaltung integriert sich mittels seiner drei Geschosse städtebaulichen entlang der Mercatorstraße. Das Gebäude der Oberstufenschüler ist Richtung Park orientiert und wird viergeschossig ausgebildet. Die Baukörper nehmen sich durch umlaufende Balkons zurück. Durch den Versatz der Gebäude entstehen funktionsbezogene Außenbereiche, so u.a. ein Vorplatz für die Stadtteil-Bibliothek. Dieser neue Knotenpunkt ist die neue Hauptadresse des Schulcampus und urbane Mitte der Stadtteilnutzungen.

"Dans un quartier au caractère social fort, le jury du concours international apprécia en particulier la dimension sociale du plan masse proposé : l’équipement d’enseignement est concentré en trois bâtiments, et positionné sur le côté ouest du terrain. Il compose avec le bâti existant un nouvel ilot latéral, et laisse la place libre à un grand parc central dont le quartier peut complètement profiter.
La structure urbaine existante est actuellement très délayée. Le nouveau plan masse redessine le quartier selon une organisation claire et ordonnée. Un axe de distribution Nord-Sud marque la séparation nette entre les bâtiments du complexe scolaire à l'ouest et le grand parc central. Il crée un lien clair et rectiligne de distribution entre les différentes fonctions, offre une adresse visible à l’établissement scolaire reconstruit.
Le regroupement des bâtiments scolaires en U permet un fonctionnement interne facile et des distances réduites. La cour d’école retrouve un caractère semi privé de cœur d’ilot. Les espaces municipaux et maison de quartier qui s’ouvrent pour leur part coté parc, et font le lien entre complexe scolaire et nouveau parc urbain.
Grace à ce plan masse, le phasage de construction / démolition est largement facilité et l’école existante peut ainsi continuer à fonctionner jusqu’à la livraison du nouvel équipement.
Le système de construction est de type hybride, composé d’une structure principale en béton recyclé et d’un squelette interne en bois. De grand balcons linéaires végétalisés coté parc offrent une liaison verte entre le bâti et le nouveau parc, et servent par la même occasion de protection solaire aux espaces d’enseignement.
Avec le nouveau campus Bockmühle Essen, la première pierre est posée pour la revitalisation d’un district à caractère social. Il dote le quartier d’un lieu de rencontre pour les enfants, les écoliers, les familles, et offre un espace d’apprentissage, un lieu de vie contemporain, qualitatif et de nouvel ordre.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT ASPECTS
The CAMPUS BOCKMÜHLE is intended to lay the foundation for a new urban district development on the 65,000 m2 site. The basis for this design is the idea of creating a clear urban development situation by juxtaposing the park and the building and extending the existing public green spaces of Blambeckpark. The result is a new and lively neighborhood park with attractive recreational areas. The proposed new buildings in the district will be integrated into the existing surrounding blocks and their orientation will define the new green center. A new forecourt, located to the north of the development area at Blambeckpark, gives the project its key position within the district.
DESIGN CONCEPT
The CAMPUS BOCKMÜHLE to be developed, together with the existing elementary school on the west side of the area, forms a functioning ensemble as a block structure. A planted central courtyard forms the heart of the campus. The sports facility is positioned on the southern edge of the park, so that the southern part of the district is also enlivened. The district meeting point, children's and youth club are located in the centrally located building and can be accessed from both the north and the south. This creates a north-south development axis. Connections to the neighborhood are established from all sides and the entire district is enlivened throughout the week. The compact building for the SEK I pupils, with its outwardly calm appearance, is integrated into the urban development along Mercatorstrasse by means of its three storeys. The building for the sixth form students is oriented towards the park and has four storeys. The building volumes are set back by surrounding balconies. The offset of the buildings creates function-related outdoor areas, including a forecourt for the district library. This new hub is the new main address of the school campus and the urban center of the district's uses.
